Here’s a variety of quick concepts for branding, just setting down some basics and playing with the idea of decorative elements, to get that traditional backdrop through.
Heres a good variety of fonts, I tried a lot more but a lot of tragic attempts in between nice fonts. I’m trying to remain absolute for the time being, but there’s room for more experimentation as this is … Continue reading
This is what I’m going to achieve with the Robinsons brand, I’d like to corporate simple decorative elements to give it almost a traditional look, but with a contemporary feel. Here’s some images below that represent what I mean by … Continue reading
This is a series about what inspires me, currently I’m working on rebranding “Robinsons Shoemakers”, so I was looking into what I think good branding is, in my opinion. P.s: GDP stands for Graphic design in Print. Samurai bottle – … Continue reading
Basics of what they look like at this moment in time; very traditional design, colour scheme and looking very dated. One of the main factors i came across is that “Robinsons 2” is barely seen or heard at all, really, i found one picture, I don’t think they have a website as far as I’m aware, but “Robinson’s Shoemakers” doesn’t mention “Robinsons 2” at all, which is a massive flaw in my opinion, but here’s just some photos in a collage of what the companies about.
We did a class workshop making business cards within Adobe inDesign, a programme I wasn’t too familiar with, but nonetheless here are the results of this workshop, you can see a clear development through the four concepts.
Very simpistic, keeping it clean and straight-forward layout.
Here’s just some basic points to some up the past 6 weeks.
Design Issue Notes
Started off doing “Apple Patents” topic, tried to make it work, but in the late stages I realised it was going nowhere, it was soon to be turning out to be a generic poster.
Final piece very much based on my own Birth certificate, which would be the same birth certificate as the subject because we were born in the same year.

9×9 Square Notes
7 out of 9 original photos sourced by me from Flickr were used by other classmates.
Final Piece – Artists(From top left to bottom right) – LongitudeLatitude – atmtx – Christine und David Schmitt – Carl Zeiss Microscopy – Administrodor Galeria Uninter – Flora。T – Museo Soumaya by Raban Haaijc – PictoScribe – Nature of Sidney by AlbeJTD – Museo Soumaya by Raban Haaijc.
Font used in final piece was – “Futura STD, Bold”
I used super high resolution photos in my original 9×9, because I wanted to use fine details and not just use entire photos without editing the size and composition.
1. Simple, elegant, and great contrast, my final piece.
2. It was close, but I felt like something wasn’t quite there, although I’m very fond of this, again, simple, elegant type, minimalistic.
3. I’m unsure if it works at all, I think the idea, and style is good, but I wanted something with more impact.
4. Strong contrasts, the idea was to lead the focus into the very middle of the piece, it’s good, but I thought a bit boring, won’t have as much impact as the others.
This is my extensive list of experimentation and concepts of my final piece, I feel like I’ve exhausted the idea for now.
